Title: Clean Development Mechanism (CDM) – an opportunity for climate and development?

    The workshop will introduce the criteria for entering the Volvo Adventure and take you through examples of successful projects that have made a practical difference to their local environments. You will have the opportunity to enter the Volvo Adventure for 2008 and work with one of the organizers as you do so to help refine or develop project strategy and action plans. The Award offers young people the chance to travel to Sweden on an all expenses paid trip to discuss their ideas and projects with other groups from around the world.

    The ever growing challenge of youth unemployment and the continued degradation of the environment can only be addressed by pooling the skills, experience and knowledge of diverse partners at the global, regional, national and local levels. Environmental protection represents not only a track to decent, healthy and long lasting employment but also a source of new jobs in number of areas.This interactive session will explore different ways to develop decent and productive employment opportunities for young people by utilizing the full potential of youth to help restore the depleted and damaged environment.

Title: Its getting hot in here: turning our issues into policy

    Communicating ideas to government and public is essential in advancing environmental causes. This works will aim at providing participants with examples of effective lobbying and advocate from youth around the world, and will allow them to collaborate with each other to develop messages for environmental advocacy. By the end of the workshop, participation will have reviewed concepts for lobbying and campaigning, concepts that can be used for working with media, policy-makers, community organizations, and public in general.
